XMA

XMA

Yesterday I went to XMA with Eliver and did some tricks with Anis and the other teachers/students there. Got to meet Mike Chat, the owner, who seemed very cool. It was a good change of pace from wushu practice and I enjoyed it. It doesnt compare to the intensity of a full form wushu practice, but it was definitely a good vibe and fun to jump around on the springboarded floor. I learned to do some inside roundhouse kick type spinning combos and then I also did this suicide type one legged fall where instead u end up landing on your feet instead. =P

The second prototype for our clothing got pushed back yet again to Friday. I am not holding my breath that it is finished on Friday, but I hope it is done by then.

Eliver and I are thinking about doing some extra work next month just for fun and for some extra cash. Besides I still need 2 more SAG vouchers. It would be for fun, but if my schedule is too busy then I’ll just play it by ear.

I still have a cold which I caught because everyone in my house is sick! =P I don’t feel terrible, but I don’t feel great.. and it’s making me extra lazy and not train as much.

Good news with WushuKicks is that we are getting more and more sales every month and our google pagerank has increased too! Thanks to everyone who has linked to and supported http://www.WushuKicks.com

At the bank we had an IT Steering Committee Meeting and I had the chance to talk to our Senior Vice President of Marketing about New Media and how it could promote the bank to celebrities and to a large number of people at a fraction of the cost of direct mailers. He wanted to have lunch with me to discuss further.

On not so good news it seems that there are rumors that a Kato may have been found. http://www.filmjunk.com/2009/07/28/seth-rogens-the-green-hornet-finds-a-new-kato/ Regardless if this is confirmed or not, it seems Seth Rogen is looking for a name actor. I think he still needs to check out my reel though. =P

I’ve been playing a lot of SF4 lately thanks to my roommates Eliver and Hue! Those who know me know I am typically not much of a video game player, but these guys play it every day so of course I say “let me get in an a couple rounds” then I end up playing for a while too. So far I like Ryu and Sagat the most. I don’t plan on playing much seeing as how I have a million things going on, but it’s nice to unwind and kick some street fighter ass once in a while.

Film
Saturday I went to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles audition! No, it was not for the role of Michelangelo or Raphael. It was to cast for the foot clan soldiers. I hear that the movie has no official funding yet and that the casting was more of a publicity stunt (It was held open in public in the middle of Hollywood and Highlands). Nonetheless, it was good times because I got to see a bunch of martial arts / wushu people all in one place. I ran into Phil Dang, He Jing De, DY, Phil Sahagun, Yan Wei, the rest of EMC, Xin, Roy, Andrew, Jacob R., Aoni, Matt, and the list goes on and on. I performed longfist, dropped off my headshots and demo reel and then headed out for my other shoot.

I am shooting a web series / pilot where I play an asian camera-man / film editor. It is in Bruno/Borat style where I am documenting the adventures of a crazy Australian. This is less of an “action” role and more of an opportunity for me to try different things (I have an accent!) and play someone other than a “hardcore badass”.

Due to my various online promotion pushing to play the Kato role, 2 editors contacted me wanting to interview me to discuss my quest for the role of Kato in the Green Hornet.

Wushu
Fri I went to Wushu practice. Sat the TMNT casting was the extent of my wushu. Sun I just dropped by to say hi to Tamiko and Ming. Ming is awesome. She is such a good instructor and person. I didnt train because I slept 20 minutes too long, but went to say hi nonetheless. I did some light jogging then went to eat at Tea Station.

Met a friend of a friend who is sponsored by TapOut. I am going to talk to him and see if we can get the team jackets sponsored by TapOut. I need to compile a video of US wushu and sanshou. I am excited to see how this turns out. It would be awesome to be sponsored by TapOut.

Business
PokerBling – Emailed and faxed out and followed up with all the contacts that I have for now and will wait a week or so to see where this goes.
WushuKicks – Want to plan a restructuring and reorganization / clean up site / add more unique products / renegotiate with suppliers.
Clothing – Got an email back from pattern maker. Some aspects of production are still on hold.
Tea- Promotional shirts are done!

Misc
Went out to Hollywood on Fri. and hung out with Matt B by Venice Beach on Saturday. Sunday was an errands kinda day. Spent most of the day tearing my harddrive out of its external case. =P

Wushu
Been feelin eh~ Sorta slacked this week. I’ve gone to practice about every other day.. which is not good. I should be going everyday and the days that I do go.. I sorta just jog and then stretch. haha. I’ll have to really step it up in the upcoming months anyways, so I figure I don’t need to burn myself out right now. Still, I don’t like this lethargic feeling. Maybe it’s because I am having a lot on my plate.

Alfred next Kato in Green Hornet!

Alfred next Kato in Green Hornet!

is what I would like to see happen. Let’s make it happen!

I spent all weekend updating my 2009 demo reel.
Stephen Chow even gives me a personal endorsement in my demo reel! =)

Here is My 2009 Demo Reel

So my agent tells me on Friday that I need to immediately get her my headshots, resume, and demo reel so that she can submit me for the role of KATO in The Green Hornet movie being directed by Seth Rogen.

Here is a little background- Sony pictures is slated to release a movie version of the 1970s tv show “The Green Hornet” in summer of 2010.

For those who don’t know about the show. It is about a pair of crime fighters and the sidekick KATO is played by Bruce Lee.

For 2010, Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) was supposed to play the role of Kato and Seth Rogen would be the main super hero Britt Reid.

Stephen Chow was originally supposed to help Seth Rogen direct The Green Hornet and act as Kato. First news came out that there were some differences and he was no longer filling the directing role and would instead just act as Kato. However recent news indicates that due to his schedule and other circumstances he may not act as Kato at all.

If ur diggin this article please digg/stumble/twitter this article: http://www.casualiscool.com/martial-arts/alfred-hsing-as-kato-in-the-green-hornet-plus-my-new-2009-demo-reel/

As I mentioned, I spent the whole weekend updating my demo reel and also getting some Kato style pictures taken. Special special thanks to John Nguyen (and Ruby) who helped me take some awesome pictures under terrible circumstances (aka no location and no professional lighting equipment, and middle of the night) and also thanks to my roommate Alex for helping with the lighting and also doing some color correction for me on my demo reel dvd!
